Mojo Monday 506

I was so happy to see Julee Tilman still doing her Mojo Monday challenges over on her blog that can be found here..  Her sketch for this week made a great layout for one of the many thank you cards I need to make.  I used an old SU leaf stamp and flower stamp for this card. My new year's stamping resolution is to take my rubber off the wood to condense my storage spaces in my stamping room. In doing that I am going through lots of my old stamps that I still want to keep. (like these two). I have already gotten most of my thank you sentiments off the wood and onto cling foam and into DVD boxes labeled as such. Makes for easier finding as well. I am making my stamping room user friendly for me. I really don't care what stamps came with the set, when they were purchased and it really doesn't matter too much what company made them either. I am of the age now that I just want to stamp, find things easily, keep them in some kind of order, and in less space. In doing so and finding them easier, I plan to make use of more of my old, but well loved stamps in my collection. Happy 2019 and happy stamping days ahead to you!!

CAS Game #130 - Three of something

I did this card for the AAA challenge this week that can be found on their website HERE. The challenge was to be a CAS card with three things. I picked this image with the three kings. I used versamark ink and gold embossing powder. Then I added a jewel in the center of the star. I needed another card, so this quick and easy one fit my time frame this morning too.

TLC720 and Allsorts 479

I don't do mass production in card making very often. But this is a set that will be a thank you gift for a hostess of a Christmas party that I was invited to. I stenciled the picket fence distress oxide inks onto the kraft card base. I made this for the Allsorts challenge that can be found HERE  using Christmas flowers, and for the SCS Technique Lover's Challenge that make cards suitable for mass production.

CCEE1849 - Elf antics

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Frances here and I am your challenge hostess for December.

Elf Antics - One of the traditions I love to do at Christmas has to do with Elf of the Shelf. I know some people love them and some people hate them … I am in the love category :) For our challenge this week include an elf on your card.

Let's see what our Design Team created for our challenge this week. Check it here.

I am a retired kindergarten teacher, and I know how excited children can get about Christmas and for the most part warning children that Santa's elves are helping Santa make his list did motivate better behavior for the most part.  Now I really could not have used plan B in my classroom, but let it represent the more unpleasant of the consequences of their behavior. As a child, a swat or the belt was the only plan of improving behavior when I grew up, so we have come a long way. I just hope people see this as humorous and not harsh. We did survive in those days, because our mother's bark was much more severe than her bite.

CTS299 Be Jolly

Today I had a chance to visit some of the weekly challenges going on and found this one from CAS(E) this sketch #299. You can find it here

I designed the card on a one layered base and made the card that opened the size of the striped panel.
Challenges are a great way to gain inspiration and new ideas and for these last group of Christmas cards I need, I can use all the help I can get.
Happy Holidays to all of you who come to visit here at my blog.

MOJO Monday 504

I am still making a few more Christmas cards, and so I used this MOJO Monday Challenge sketch #504 to design this card.  I used my die cuts for the circles and the holly, Since I have been pulling all my rubber off the wood, I have not been doing too good a job on keeping up with where the stamp comes from. I am not in the business of selling anyone's stamps, I simply like creating with mine, no matter how old or how long I have had it. My Christmas stamps I reuse year after year.

Thursday, November 29, 2018

Well, I hope my little pig will qualify as a critter for the Mod Squad challenge this week. She is from Deep Red, and I have had such fun with her this week over on Splitcoaststampers as a part of the unfolding tale of the festival going on in Whykickanoocow, Australia as part of the MMTPT challenge over there on Tuesdays.  My little pig was a little jealous of all the attention cows seem to get in that town so she entered the Miss WhyKickanoocow, to represent the hog population of the town. Unfortunately, she lost the pageant's grand prize, but as fate would have it, her fashion tips for the holidays book called, "How to be in Hog Heaven for the Holidays.," made the best seller list.  This is a page from book. LOL The sentiment is a stamp from Unity.

I plan to use this tip myself, seeing I actually needed it for Thanksgiving.  Have a happy holiday season!!

CCEE1848 squares and circles

Anne here with my last challenge.  This one is dedicated to her hubby, who is a retired Mathematics teacher.

Circles and squares are simple geometric shapes.  Make a card using at least one of each.

So, Anne, I used a fancy paper punch I have not used in years, to make these square packages. Then I used circles punehed around other cirlce punches to make these bows. Gift buying seems to be on my brain this week, and decided these shapes work perfectly with this gift theme.  Do I get bonus points for the few triangles and retangles I also added to the mix???

Come join the geometric fun this week and do this challenge along with us. Add CCEE1848 as your keyword if you load to Splitcoast. Or you might try linking it up on the CCEEblogspot you can find HERE.

CCEEStampers - Humorous Birthday

Anne is our hostess with the mostest, and her cards are always full of delightful humor. She is asking us to make a humerous birthday card this week for our challenge.

My card was made from scraps found in my paper scraps that I pieced together for my background. I do this ahead of time when I just want to get some pre-made backgrounds made for future use. Since this week has been filled with Thanksgiving preparation, I was so glad I found this background already done in my stash. So I just stamped the cake and fussy cut it out and then added the sentiment to the white panel that was on the card. This stamp and sentiment is from Unity Stamps. Unfortunately, my own birthday cake is resembling this one more and more!!

CCEE1846 Topaz

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to another CCEE Stampers challenge  and Anne is our hostess.

The November birthstone is a TOPAZ. Make a card using the colors in the yellow to amber range.

Let's see what our Design Team have created for us this week .Hope you play along and add your link over on the CCEEblog you can find HERE.

I used this old Flourish stamp in my collection because I love this sunflower and the wonderful art of Marcela Hawley. I used the gingham washi tape as my panel and embossed the inked basket weave embossing folder to add to the topaz look. I used my Oxide inks in various ways on this card.

Mod Squad Grid card

A little short on time for this challenge, the real challenge became getting it done in the time that was left on the linky over at Mod Squad, You can find the challenge HERE. I used a Unity stamp for the main image and some small SU stamps for some of the grids.

CAS507 and C4C460

This card fit many purposes today. I needed a sympathy card, the SC CAS challenge was color blocking, and this week's Crazy 4 Challenges was one one layer card (my favorites). So I used an old retired SU stamp to do the blocks of color with some of the purples in my Distress Oxide Ink collection. It used the black DOI for the image from Stampabilities and the sentiment also a Stampabilities stamp.  I also only took me 10 minutes to do this card.

Crafty Calendar Challenge - paper piecing

I have been so excited about using my Kedsom brushes especially with my oxide inks and my stencils. I did this on kraft paper. I stamped the Unity image onto the kraft paper, then I stenciled the background carefully not to get on the stamped image. I paper pieced her sweater and glued it on.
Then I stamped the sentiment. I colored her hair with alcohol markers and blended it with a blender pen.

You can find this challenge HERE.

CCEE1845 Tongue Twister Day

Apparently, it is Tongue Twister Day. This was a great challenge to me as none of the tongue twisters  I knew I didn't have stamps to go with, or the ones I did, someone had already used that tongue twister. So, I just got really creative and made up my own to fit one of the stamps I had. I was lucky too to find this nautical paper pad I found that had this sheet of  dp with crabs on it. So, here is my created tongue twister for you:  This crazy, creepy crab cries for crispy, crunchy crackers!!

Have fun with this one, and join us over on the CCEE blogsite HERE and check out what the other team members came up with this week to challenge your tongue and its twisting abilities!!

C4C leaves

Here's my card for the Crazy 4 Challenges this week:

Most of the stamps are from old Stanpin' Up sets that I have put in my leaf box. The sentiment is from Rubbernecker Stamps. The inks are Distress Oxide Inks  It is also a one layer card, which is one of my favorites to make. You can find this challenge HERE

4 Crazy Chicks Challenge- Christmas

I got to spend a little time in my stamping room today. I decided to take on this 4 Crazy Chick challenge today to make a Christmas card. Most of these stamps are from Unity. The sentiment is not.  You can find the challenge HERE

Double D challenges - dots and stripes

I am busy making cards for a card set for  a friend, and I am trying to use challenges to help motivate my mojo. I found this dots and stripes challenge over on the Double D challenge blog. You can find it at this site http://daranddiane.blogspot.com// . I have been sorting through my scrap piles and I found all of these that coordiated so well together. I used these Unity stamps and I paper pieced this Angie girl's sweater with this pretty gold dotted paper. Unity Girls are so fun to paper piece.

CCEE1844 - Turkey

This week's challenge is to use a turkey on your card. This turkey is from a very old Stampin' Up Thanksgiving set. I stamped the small leaves as a background, and put it all together with a gingham print dp and my self made plaid.  I added a few leafy gemstones.  This will come in handy for November cards.

Check on the other turkey cards from the team on the CCEEStampers blog you can find HERE.

Retro Rubber Challenge #98

I always love a chance to get some of my old stamps out and use for a card. This pumpkin is a Recollection stamp from Michaels that I bought years ago, and the sentiment is an old Stampin' Up stamp from 2007. I am using distress oxide inks on m card, colored pencils, versafine black ink, and washi tape. I made a mistake when I stamped the sentiment the first time, so I used the washi tape to cover my mistake. Since the letters acturally were seen through the white dots, I had to even be more creative to hide it, so I added the little sequined leaves. So, creativity really plays apart when you are trying to deem a card, and it makes you think a little past your original ideas.

You can find the Retro Rubber Challenge HERE.

Pumpkin Spice

I had such fun with this pumpkin stamp this fall season. Today I used it on the "Pumpkin Spice" challenge over at Heart 2 Heart challenge.  I loved making the background for this card as I used up lots of scraps from my paper scraps. I am not sure of the source of this stamp, but I used spiced marmalaid distress oxide ink for a watercolor smash onto the white paper. Then I stamped the image with versafine black ink. To make the leaves and stem the colors I wanted I used colored pencils. I really liked the way you could work the pencils on top of that DOI. I added some shading to the pumpkin with colored pencils as well.

I hope eveyone is having a great fall season. It is my favorite time of the year and I love the fall colors.

CCEE1843 one layer cards

Okay.....here is this week's challenge.....

Many of you do fabulously wonderful fancy
fold cards, which is not my
thing. So today I am going to challenge you to make a true one layer
card....no layers, no popups, no embellishments. All your work must be
on the base layer. Embossing is fine, of course.

I used my new Unity stamps on this card and I  used distress oxide inks on this too.

Check out the other one layer wonders of the team over on the CCEEstampers blogsite. HERE

If you load your card to SCS please use CCEE1843 as your keyword.

CFC pink and gray challenge

I did this card for the pink and gray challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays challenge. I wanted to keep in one layered and mostly white, but I inked the inside of an embossing folder with pink and smake distress oxide inks, spritzed it with water and smalsed my paper in the middle of it. I stamped the ribbon in pink, and the flowers in gray. I then colored in the flowers with pink colored pencil and added gray pearls for the centers.

I have many friends who have had to fight this battle. I made this in honor of their bravery and courage they have shown in the eye of the storm. Love you all.

This week's challenge is for the guys.......

Today is No Beard Day, so let’s make some masculine cards with
mustaches, but NO BEARDS.

CTD515 and SC719

I did this card for the sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers and I also did it for the CTD515 challenge to use green, white, and tan.

CCEE1841 Dogs

Joanne here with a challenge close to her heart....

As you all know, I love my two pups. They are both rescue pups from
Tennessee. Well, October is Adopt a Shelter Dog month. Let’s create
cards with dogs on them.

So,  Joanne, I had to use a dog that is a favorite of many over the years, Snoopy. I used colored pencils to color my image.

Please join us with your cute pup image and post it to the cceestampers blogsite link here. While you are there, check out all the team's cute collection of dogs.

Halloween colors.
If you don’t celebrate Halloween, do the same for

CCEE1839

Welcome to another challenge with the CCEE team, and here is Maryann's final challenge for the month I hope that you have enjoyed all the cards over the last month.

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's set back stamping tutorial, using stamps and dies, something different to the normal layering that should be fun trying.

Here is my card which I used Our Daily Bread Design stamps and die:

ccee1838 - baby card

Welcome friends,  Maryann, our hostess this week ishere with another challenge.

CCEE1837

Welcome to the CCEE Stampers blog, it is Maryann who is out hosttess with this weeks challenge.

According to the days of the year calendar it is Fortune cookie day, use this to inspire an oriental themed card.

I have not one fortune cookie stamp, and didn't have time to hunt down the very few oriental stamps I have, so I purchased these stickers for my card. This is a fast card, because I have been out of town this week as well, and it was the best I could do for this challenge.

The team has some great cards, so check out what my friends did on the CCEEStampers blogsite that is located HERE. While you are there, I hope you are motivated to play along with this week's challenge.

TLC707 and Dragonfly journeys challenge

I did this card for the Technique Lovers Challenge on SCS today and also for the paper piecing challenge over at https://dragonflyjourneys.blogspot.com/

Coral is one of my very favorite colors and I loved these new design papers in a 6 by 6 pad I found at Tuesday Morning. It matched perfectly with this old cameo coral I have had in my stash a number of years. I added some speckles with an old SU itty bitty background stamp with versamrk ink and covered them with gold embossing powder. The lovely girl image is of course from Unity, and the Dream is a diecut. I added a few sequins just for a little extra sparkle, as dreams should include all the glitter and pazazz it can so we can shoot for the stars, right??

CCEE1836 shadow box card

Welcome to the CCEE Stampers blog. It is Maryann here as our hostess for the month. I do hope you come and join in the challenges.

Shadow box card - This card has been around for a lot of years but lately I have noticed some modern twists to it, so give us your version of a shadow box card.

Here is my card, made with kraft and ivory paper. The stamps I used were from Unity, and I used some of my favorite paper punches to embellish it.

Sketch challenge A2918

I did this card for two challenges today. I found this terrific sketch challenge going on over at The House that Stamps Built website that can be found HERE, and I am using it for the Ways to Use Challenge over on SCS that can be found HERE.

I used about 3 or 4 colors of my newest distress oxide inks on this, some washi tape, and some sequins. I try to keep a stash of encouragement cards in my collection of cards because I am on my Care Team at my church.

CCEE1835 Flowers

It is springtime in Australia, the land of our wonderful Frances, who is hosting this last challenge for August. She writes:

In my part of the world (Australia), Saturday is the first day of Spring .... Flowers are beautiful at any time of the year so for our challenge this week we are to add some flowers to our card.

Want to play along with us this week, don't forget to drop back here to enter the link to your card to Mr Linky at the bottom of the CCEEstampers blogsite. While you are there, check out all the beautiful flowers on the cards of the team members.

Here is mine, which I made with a retired Stampin' Up Stipple hydrangea stamp which I love. I dry embossed part of the card base, added a thin strip of washi tape, the added my focal and sentiment ovals. I am on the care team at my church and am always in need of sympathy cards, so I decided to make this a sympathy card for my collection.

Hope you will join in with some of your favorite flower stamps this week.

I am also including this in the Sisterhood of Crafters flower challenge this week.

CCEE1834 Riding the Wind

Hi Crafty Friends

It's Frances here again with another fun challenge for you all.

Today (23rd August) is Ride the Wind Day, this day was created to celebrate the anniversary of the first man powered flight. There are so many things that rely on wind for them to work, so let's include something that needs wind on our cards today. Some examples include kite flying, windsurfing, Hang Gliding; Sailing Boats, Birds Flying, Hot Air Balloons, Balloons, Paper Planes etc.

Want to play along with us this week, don't forget to drop back here to enter the link to your card to Mr Linky at the bottom at the CCEEStampers blogsite www.cceestampers.blogspot.com

While  you are there look to see what our Design Team created this week for the challenge.....

Here's my card and I kind of took a different angle on ridiing the wind. I thought of how a loose feather floats through the air and how it moves as the wind catches it.

I used distress oxide inks for my background. Stamps I used were from Stampabilities and Unity.
I added a few sequins as some of the pieces scattered.

CTD #507

This is for the Color Throwdown Challenge #507. Check it out .https://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/

I am trying out some of my new distress oxide ink colors on this, The flowers and leaves are from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from Illustrated Faith.  CTF507

CCEE1833 In honor of bees

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our CCEE Stamps challenge blog. Frances is our wonderful hostess again this week and she had  another challenge for you today.

Apparently Saturday 18th August is World Honey Bee Day, so for our challenge this week we are to include a bee or two on our cards.

Want to play along with us this week, don't forget to drop back here to enter the link to your card to Mr Linky at the bottom of this blog post. While you are there, be sure to check out all the other cute bee cards from the team.

I used some of my oxide inks including one of the newest, mustard seed and one of the older ones, wild honey. I added a few stamped dots of antique photo. These bees are really part of a trio, but I decided to cute them apart and use them seperately for this card. The sentiment is from an old SU set.

Dragonfly Journey Challenge 124

I have used this card for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on Splitcoaststampers, and thought it would fit this Dragonfly Journey challenge for flower power. These are two sensational stamps I found on the reduced tables at our Hobby Lobby. I love them and have made a card with them at lease once a week in varioius forms and styles. I discovered some glossy paper in my paper stashes today so I used this alcohol ink marker technique in making this card. I stamped the image and the sentiment with Memento Paris Dusk.

CCEE1832

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Frances here with this week's challenge.

Apparently Tomorrow is World Lion Day .... Lions are also often referred to as the "King of the Jungle" so lets see some jungle animals appearing on our cards this week … bonus points if you include a lion.

Want to play along with us this week, don't forget to drop over to the CCEEStampers blog  to enter the link to your card to Mr Linky at the bottom of the  blog post.

While you are there,  let's see what our Design Team created this week for the challenge .

I don't have but two lion stamps, and this is a new stamp that I have not even used before, so I opted to do an alternative jungle animal. Since the  giraffe and the lion both have manes, I accented up the side with a fringed piece of paper to be mane-like!!

Come join in on the fun this week.

A Vintage Journey challenge - resist

I made this card to use for two challenges. The Free for all challenge on SCS which was to make a card about friendship and the A Vintage Journey challenge to do some sort of resist technique. I used two older retired Stampin' Up stamps for the card, I inked the background stamp with versamark and then sprinkled on white embossing powdered. Then I added Ranger distress inks over it. On a seperate piece of white cardstock I stamped the image that I colored with alcohol markers and cut out. I attached it to the front.

Cardz 4 Galz Sketch challenge

Cardz 4 Galz challenge

I loved the sketch that was up for the Cardz 4 Galz  I found today I used a new SU set that I have just recently purchased and the shells are from one of my old SU favorites. I used distress oxide inks for the elements in the tropical scene.

Fresh Made Sketch 348

I love beach themes on summer cards and thought this sketch from Freshly Made Sketch challenge would make a cute one. Here I used an old  Stampin' Up set from a summer long ago. They were just the right size to fit my squares.

CCEE1831 Coloring Book Day

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Frances Byrne hosting our August challenges.

Apparently today (2nd August) is Coloring Book Day. Coloring books are popular for both young and old. For our challenge today use an image on your card that needs to be colored ... bonus points for those who have coloring books and uses an image from one of those for your card today.

Want to play along with us this week, don't forget to drop back here to enter the link to your card to Mr Linky over on the CCEEStampers blogsite. Check out all the other team cards while you are over there.

I used a page out of one of my "adult" coloring books that I colored with colored pencils as my background. Then I stamped one of my Unity girls stamp onto white, cut it out and added it to the card.

Beach, old stamps, and tropical colors

I loved making this card that seemed to fit 3 challenges I found this week. I stamped my own background for this using distress oxide inks, and using a old seashell set from SU dated back to 2000, palm trees from a set from 2006, and my Crosshatch background stamp from many, many years ago as well. The sentiment is  my only new stamp used on this card.from Stampendous. My diecut is from Spellbinders.

Here are the challenges I made this card for:
Retro Rubber challenge#92 Life is a beach

Crafty gals corner  #171 - tropical colors

SC708 and Back to Basics &Beyond #8

I love the elegant look that embossing adds to a card. This was for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers today and also for the Back to Basic &Beyond challenge today to use embossing on my card. You can find that challenge HERE

I used versafine black for the flower image and the scripture. I used distress oxide inks for the leaves and sponging on the flower. The scripture stamp is from Rubbernecker, the flower and leaves are from some retired sets from Stampin' Up.  I used gold liquid pearls for the flower center.

Color Throwdown challenge #504

The new colors for this week's color throwdown challenge are black, copper, and white. I used some metallic copper ink and used a stencil brush apply it by using a stencil from Penny Black,  I used versafine black for my image and sentiment. The birds are from Inkadinkado and the sentiment is from Stampabilities. The little speckled dots are made with an old and wonderful SU stamp that I use for everything it seems.  I lucked out and found these two sequins that were copper.

You can find the challenge HERE.

Here's the swatch:

Mod Squad - Christmas challenge

A little Christmas in July here and making this for this week's challenge on Mod Squad to make a Christmas card. I used about 3 colors of my Distress Oxide inks for my background. The stamps are from Unity and I used versafine black to stamp my image and sentiment. The speckles are stamped using oxide inks with an old and very often used retired SU stamp from a set called Itty Bitty backgrounds (I think),  I was a little disappointed that the strip that looks black behind the sentiment which is really blue and also a gold metallic strip. I just don't photograph metallic paper very well.
