KSSC #30- casing the experts!!!!

The challenge this month with the Kitchen Sink Crew was to case one of the design team's great cards from the year. I found this one on Connie's blog for September 26, 2010. I photographed my card to the left of the computer screen beside Connie's. I had that design paper but changed the colors somewhat and made the kittens a different color. I think Connie's was an easel card, and mine is just a plain jane card. Earlier this week I made an anniversary card from one I found on my sister, Lynn's blog. I thought it would be perfect for my parent's 61st anniversary, which is January 1. The vintage look of it seemed to depict the 61 years!! Sorry I didn't photo my card next to hers but her multilayering skills put mine to shame. (Not that I can keep up with any of those Kitchen Sink girls!!!)

I did mine in tan and brown tones of ink. I embossed the cardstock and used my Brillance Platinum Planet ink pad to rub over the embossed pattern. Love how that turned out.

I hear there is going to be some real fun New Year's Eve over at Kitchen Sink. It's worth staying home New Year's Eve I think! What better way to bring in the new year than to stamp with my internet buddies? Hope you come join in on the fun!!!

Stampin' Sisters in Christ 30

This card is for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge #70. It was to use inchies. I found this set of 4 in a $1 set I got at Joann's last month. Thought it would be perfect. It is also for the Ways to Use Challenge #302 which was to  pop part of the card up. I popped up this diecut bow. I cuttlebugged the red background.

MOJO Monday 169

This is for the MOJO Monday 169 challenge sketch. This was one of my new Christmas stamps this season. It is from Stampendous. The design paper is from Basic Grey. I embossed the light blue cardstock from Mark's Finest Papers with my cuttlebug folder. I chose this soft blue for that soft and serene effect it has. I think I have come to the end of my Christmas card list, but will have a few extras for those unexpected cards. I hope all your Christmas stamping is about done and that you will have time to enjoy the fellowship of friends and family during this holiday season. May Christ's love shine from you to brighten the world around you and may you bring a little cheer to someone who might be having a difficult time this year. Peace and love to you and yours.

Blog Hop Day # 2 at Mark's Finest Papers

I'm not in the line up today, so it's not necessary to leave me a comment, but I wanted to post one of the cards I made with the Nature's Postage set. As always, not only are there other postage stamps of various sizes, there is also a wonderful collection sentiments that are very useful.
I used pretty in pink paper with a striped design paper. The image is stamped in Tuxedo black on white and colored with copic markers. This lovely black ribbon is from Mark's Finest Papers as well.
Here are the wonderful blogs for the hop that you will want to visit today:

Stampin' Sisters in Christ 68

Rebekkah Reed had a beautiful message to go along with the challenge over on Stampin' Sisters in Christ this week that is based on the scripture from Isaiah 1:18. You can find it here. I used the lovely poinsettia stamp from Mark's Finest Papers. Here is a little poem I wrote to put inside:

We celebrate this season for the birth of a baby boy
He brought a gift of salvation--generations of hope and joy.
The beautiful poinsettias all bright in festive red,
Reminding us of His amazing love  and the sacrificial blood He shed.

HAVE A BLESSED SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

This was a fun card that took only a few minutes of punching holes with my mega cropadile and ribbon woven in the holes like a tree. The truck end wraps around the back of the front of the card and ties at the top of the card. I tied on a star button and stamped this Mark's Finest Papers' sentiment onto the front and had an instant card. Love the contast of the shade of green with the red.

My time to craft challenge - vintage

This is a fabulous new stamp from Mark's Finest Papers to be released in December. It has gorgeous hearts just in time for Valentines. I put it together with the brick wall set providing the background.
The papers, lace, and ribbons are all from Mark's Finest Papers. I inked the heart with ladybug red and I inked some rich cocoa around the edges of the heart. I love how that turned out.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #67

You won't want to miss the beautiful message written by Lisa over at Stampin' sisters in Christ's blog that goes along with this scripture from Phillipians 4:13. I used a scrap left over from a diecut project to mask this shape onto my white card. I sponged on the green ink and then stamped the verse in tuxedo black. I stamped the leaves and then punched the small purple cardstock from my mini flower punch from Stampin' Up. The stamps are also from Stampin' Up. I used my cross diecut from Spellbinders to add as an embellishment along with the tiny flower rhinestones.  This scripture as always given me strength and confidence and I hope it will give that message to whoever receives this card.
Have a blessed Sunday, the first one of Advent.

Stampin' Bee #85

I did the challenge for the Stampin' Bees #85, which was snowflakes. I used Mark's Finest Papers' Bells on Bobtail Ring set. I added some paper punched snowflakes and a pearl snowflake button. The flower soft added a little textured snow on the picture. The dp is from Cloud nine and the cardstock for the card base is SU's always artichoke.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #65

John 3:30  "He must increase but I must decrease."
The challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is to make a clean and simple card. I had not used this embossing folder that I got after last Christmas, so decided it was the perfect choice for this challenge.
The sentiment and snowflake/star is from Stampin' UP. I used Palette Noir black ink for the sentiment and Versamark and silver embossing powder for the snowflake/star. I added a silver rhinestone star in the center.

The burgandy paper I'm not sure the source of, but the deep mahoganey is from Mark's Finest Papers.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #64

Scripture: Isaiah 55:10-11 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty without accomplishing what I desire and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."

This card is for Randi's challenge for Stampin' Sisters in Christ #64. Snow is the weather I chose to represent on my card. I used the set Snowman Country from Mark's Finest Papers.

Jovial poinsettia

Two things that I have found new for this Christmas season I have loved is this new stamp from Mark's Finest Papers called Seasonal Poinsettia, and this beautiful new design paper from Basic Grey called Jovial. I tried to enter this in my buddy, Vicki's sketch challenge over on StampTV, but for some reason, I am having some difficulties getting onto that site and other Ning sites. It probably is a "cookie" issue but I'm so technically challenged that I don't know how to fix that. I've have to get my computer geek friend over to help me out. I thought I could at least share it on my blog if I couldn't get it to load anywhere else. I think I have about 25 of my Christmas cards made already. It sure is easy to get motivated by these new stamps and papers!!

Speedy's Friends' Challenge #25

This week's challenge for Speedy's Friends was faux stitching or stitching.  I don't do that well, but here is my attempt. I love this pretty design paper from Basic Grey's Jovial collection. I used cherry slush cardstock as the cardbase from Mark's Finest Papers. The poinsettia is from MFP's Seasonal Poinsettia and the sentiment is from MFP's Greetings of the Season.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #61

I know it's a perfect Sunday when I get to take part in the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge for the week. I love these crosses that are a part of a set from Layers of Color. I noticed they had donated a wonderful set for this week. So, I was motivated to use this LOC set. The design paper is from the Capella collect by Basic Grey and the card base is always artichoke. The sentiment set is from Stampabilities.
Prayer is a powerful gift. I will soon be a part of a ministry team going into a Women's Prison unit here in Texas and I am busy putting together a prayer chain that will be a part of the weekend. These 30 women who will take part in this weekend are always brought to tears when they see these prayer chains. Each link represents some person who is praying for them for the weekend. If you would like me to add you to the prayer chain, leave your first name and city in the comments and the date you would like to pray. The dates are Oct. 28th through Oct. 31.  I will be blessed to add you to it. These prayers are a powerful part of these incredible God-filled weekends and I was so touched by Lisa's message on Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog about prayer. I hope you will take time to read it.

Hope You Can Cling to

I have been enjoying the wonderful challenges that Splitcoaststampers are doing for the month of October called Hope You Can Cling To with a new challenge everyday. I am determined to make mine all pink although that is not the requirement of the challenges. The cards are being collected for MD Anderson, which is right here in Houston. What a great cause! I hope you will join in the fun. Click on the blinkie on my sidebar to link you to the challenges.

Happy Anniversary, Mark's Finest Papers!!

Wow, Mark's Finest Papers is celebrating their first anniversary and what an exciting year it has been. Not only do they have the greatest papers (the light pink cardbase for this card is using some of it), but they also add 4 to 6 new clear stamp sets a month. All have been fabulous and fun (like this cute cupcake for this card). I love that each set is clear and includes sentiments of various sizes and adorable images, most of which are from nature. Each set is the exact same size which makes storing a breeze and are so affordable at $15.95, especially with the variety of stamps you receive with each set. Many sets also include a stamp that can easily be made into a border and many that include great background stamps too. More and more papers, embellishments, diecuts are being added daily, which makes a visit to their shop always exciting. Congratulations, MFP!!

The Stampin' Bees are stamping up a color challenge this week of black, white, and red, a personal favorite of mine. Used the stamp set, Home Tweet Home from Mark's Finest Papers. I used a
Martha Stewart punch and placed some red circles behind the flowers.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge #58

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week is to use a symbol of peace. One of the names for Christ is Prince of Peace so I think the cross is my choice of symbols for peace and I added the dove because it is always recognized as a symbol of peace to the world. So I hope my card represents the peace that Christ offers to all of the world. The cardstock is from Mark's Finest Papers. The cross is a spellbinder diecut. The stamp used is from Stampin' Up. The sentiment is from a stamp that had all the names of Christ on it. I used a SU marker to highlight only the Prince of Peace. I chose the pale blue because it is such a peaceful color. The green ink represents life and the life Christ lives through us.

Speedy the Cat's Friends' Blog Challenge #22

The challenge this week at Speedy the Cat's Friends' Blog Challenge is to use pumpkins. I decided to paper piece these two pumpkins that are a Mark's Finest Papers' stamp from Thankful Mums and Pumpkins. The fun design paper is from Cloud Nine.  I loved the diagonal stripe and decided to place my sentiment on a slant too. Fall colors are so fun. Hope you join in the fun over at
Mark's Finest Papers' blog for a great pumpkin parade.

There is no better way to start the stamping week than with MOJO Monday's sketch challenge.
Teresa Kline's sketch was a perfect way to use up these Halloween scraps I've had lying around from other Halloween cards made last week. The images are from Mark's Finest Papers. I used tuxedo black and pumpkin pie ink. The punch I used is from Stampin' Up.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #56

I made this card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ #56. The challenge was to use faux stitching. The crosses are from Layers of Color. I used real red, kraft, basic black, and striped design paper.
I colored the image with copic markers and added a sparkly brad.
