My COF June challenge card

I am going out of town for a few days, so I needed to complete this COF challenge before I left. Liz D picked our "Fun in the Sun" theme. I also used this for today's WT381 challenge over on Splitcoaststampers.
It was to use children on your card or make a card for a child. I love the beach in the summer and I have always treasured this stamp from Stampin' Up that is in my all time collection of retired stamps that I will never get rid of. I have only one sister as a sibling, so these sister type of stamps are always appealing to me as well. Hope you are staying cool in the HOT summer and are enjoying the things you love most about the season. Blessings to you!

Such words of hope are found in this scripture found in Jeremiah 29:11. The zinnias are from Kitchen Sink Stamps. They are done in 5 layers stamped on top of each other. The patterned paper for the background is from Basic Grey. The butterflies I made with my Martha Stewart punch. I added a button and some ribbon.

I have a wonderful, talented sister, Lynn, who every weekend dreams up some fabulous 10 Minute wonder to use as her 10 minute challenge card for the week. She doesn't just do one card. She comes up with 4 fabulous cards for each of these designs. She is amazing. She is also the one that  brought me into this world of stamping. Although I will never reach the heigths of her talents, I know I have as much fun stamping as she does, and that's where it is for me. She is also the master of the Kitchen Sink multi-layered stamps, which are truly a unique way to get a photographic quality of these fabulous images.  I hope you will visit Lynn's blog at least every Monday to see what the challenge is for the week. You can find it here. This is my card done with the beautiful rose set from Kitchen sink. Even the sentiment is included with that set. The cardbase is actually pink although it may appear white in this photo.

SSIC145

I loved this video from Chris Tomlin, one of my favorite of contemporary Christian artists. Thanks for sharing it today on Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog. These little banners are from PTI, the background stamps are both old retired sets from Stampin' Up, and I free handed the lettering on the other diecut banner. I added the rhinestone hearts to the banner. The inks I used were Sahara Sand and Sage Shadow. This week's challenge was to use flags or banners on your card for Stampin' sisters in Christ.

I took my picture in front of my computer with the inspiration picture in the background for this challenge. I just bought this stamp at Hobby Lobby last week in the sale bin. Looks like just the one to use for this challenge. I decided to add a little red, white, and blue to it to give it a patriotic feel for the fourth of July!
Hope you are having a happy and safe summer doing all the fun things you love about the season.

Word Art Wednesday #33

It's Word Art Wednesday again, and this week the featured scripture is from Deuteronomy 32:2.
I have spent more time in the last few years staying in some sort of Bible study to learn more about what it says about God and His plan for my life. His teachings do fall like rain, and His words descend like dew so that they will stay with us so that we can be nurtured and we can see spiritual growth. My only regret is that I did not start this practice earlier in my life. Too often my Bible sat closed on the shelf even in some of my lowest moments of despair. Learn a lesson from me, open those precious words every day. Let those words descend like dew so that they stay with you for at least for awhile in your day. When this becomes a daily practice, you will be amazed at how often those words reappear to bring strength, nourishment, and abundance to your life. Blessings to you on this wonderful Wednesday that the Lord has made for us!!

MOJO246

Doing Mojo Monday on Tuesday!!!! The stamps are by Verve, the papers by SU and Basic Grey.
Just to give it a little glam, I added the rhinestones.

Summer Refreshments HMFMC122

There is nothing more fun than making a fun summer card with a House Mouse stamp. I chose the colors of lemons and limes and accented with orange for this fun refreshing image. Hope you have a refreshing drink in hand as you fight the hot summer temperatures. You can find this challenge over at the House Mouse blog. You will see some great ideas of refreshment over there!!!! Code: HMFMC122

The challenge was to use 3 papers, 3 flowers, 3 buttons, and 3 pearls. Okay, so I used lots of paper, but I used 3 in the card base and the other three are the flowers!!! I really liked the way these design papers came together. The background papers are from Basic Grey. The flowers are from my little punched and diecut scrap pile. I like to punch up scraps and diecut scraps and store them in a little box right by my work area in my stamp room.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge 206

The challenge was to use 5 circles. I used this Penny Black stamp several times and then punched it out into circles. The punched piece is vellum. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and to all the dads out there, Happy Father's Day.

CAS-ual Friday Challenge

The CAS-ual Friday Challenge today is clear acetate or vellum. I embossed the white cardstock with my new Sizzix folder, punched the edge of vellum with a Martha Stewart punch to add to the side, and made vellum flowers to add to the front. Quick and easy, but a look of elegance with the vellum and the embossing I think.

It's taken me all week to get around to this challenge, but I had a little time this morning so I did my something old (the ribbon), something new (the stamps), something gifted (I used my cuttlebug that my parents gave me for my birthday), and something blue (the color, of course). The embossing folder is by Sizzix, the stamps from ODBD, and the papers from Stampin' Up.  I added the doily behind the cross to add some depth to the color. This is my favorite shade of blue.

This is for today's Pop It challenge over on Flourishes. I love these pretty zinnias and popped up the three in the center of the bunch. I also popped up the folded over punched piece at the top of the card.

Father's Day FTTC173

The Flourishes Terrific Tuesday challenge was to make a Father's Day card. I used this set because of the powerful sentiments that are with it. I stamped the background card base with the antique map and sponged on some color faintly. I popped the front panel up, so I guess it really qualifies for both the challenges going on over at Flourishes this week. It's a sneak peek week over there and what beautiful things there are to see.
Just thought I'd try to join in on  some of the fun!!

WAW 32

I tried out one of my new embossing folders from Sizzix on this card. I then brayed white craft ink over the raised area. . I added this scripture which is featured on Word Art Wednesday's blog. The lace brightened the darkness of the card as well and the white flowers added the final touch. Nothing is too small or large for God to handle in our lives, and prayer keeps us in constant touch. I thank God for His constant abiding love.  .

JUGS140

I am finally catching up with some of the fun challenges of the week. Over on Just Us Girls,  challenge it was to use acrylic distress.I used French Script from Stampin' Up on the cardbase background. I embossed the dp with a Sizzix embossing folder,   sanding it and then putting soft suede ink on with a brayer. The verse and the butterfly (in soft colors over the verse) are from Our Daily Bread Designs. I added a flower and punched some leaves. The center of the flower is a rhinestone brad. The edges of the oval was sponged in baja breeze ink.

Sympathy card

Hope I get this loaded.

CBC145

This is one of my favorite things to do with ribbon scraps....ribbon weave a background for a card.
I decided this was the day to hit the stash of ribbon pieces, then stamp a" sentiment only" like the purpose of the challenge over on the Belli Challenge. All the diecut pieces came from a box that holds diecut pieces I have cut from paper that was left over from other projects. I'll take some time every once in a while to diecut from the scraps left at my diecut table. I have two Cuttlebugs, an old one, my original and a new one gifted to me on my last birthday. I use the old one for cutting and the new one for embossing. However, my scraps mount up on that cutting table, so I just use those left over pieces to paper punch flowers, leaves, circles, ovals, and I diecut them also with my Spellbinders. I keep those pieces in a small box on my craft table to pull from as needed.

CCEE1223

Vintage is the challenge and thought these two old bottles fit the bill!! I found these old stickers in my stash (love making  use of hoarded items)!!! I embossed the decoordination paper and then sanded of the raised part and dispressed the edges of my image paper with scissors. I love this old button I found in my old button jar!!

WAW31

It's late Wednesday night, I've had a day that included going to the doctor's and getting xrays.
Not sure why I have the pains I am having, but the xrays ruled out kidney stones. God is so good!!
I also pray that God also will see to my heart that is is not of stone either. Isn't this just like God to put this scripture on this day for me!!!  I have a BIG job I am doing for God that is way out of my comfort zone, but I am trusting Him completely  to supply all the skills I need. I am forming a team to go into a women's prison to take His message to a selected group of these sisters in white. Our weekend is not until September, but I know the devil would love to be the pain in my side (which I guess is the cause of this one, since the xrays did not indicate any problems) and keep me from the things I need to do to prepare for this event. I ask for your prayers to cover the women who God selects as His team to go in, and also for those women God is calling to be participants. Showing God's love to the world  in any place we can, in whatever ways we can, to whomever we can is certainly a way of  using that new heart He gives us. Have a blessed week!!

FTTC172

White, lace, and pearls is the challenge this week. I stamped this image in Versamark ink and used gold embossing powder. I used a pale green copic marker and a neutral color, and left everything else white.

MOJO Monday #244

This was done for Mojo Monday #244. The stamps are from Verve. The papers from PTI and Basic Grey.  This is a wonderful message from Romans.

House Mouse Challenge--Here comes the sun!

I used this embossing folder to be my sun and picked this House Mouse image that is cooling himself of in this cool glass of lemonade. It's been pretty hot here in Texas and I can't think of any better way to stay cool!!! Hope you enjoy your days in the sun!!!!

ODBDSLC110

I finally got my card done for the ODBDSLChallenge this week. Good thing it was one that will last 2 weeks. I used Our Daily Bread Design's Mighty Sea stamp and made it with a pink sky. I diecut a sand dollar and a shell to add to my little floral arangement. Pearls seemed like the perfect embellishment too since they are a gem of the sea. Summer seems to have arrived early and lots of sunshine and heat for a fun time at the seashore. One of my favorite places to watch sunrises or sunsets. God just paints a masterpiece across the sky with His wonderful pallet of colors.
