CCEE1635

Lois is  the hostess for September.  She thought we could start off the month with a Technique Challenge.  A simple background technique that she loves is Bokeh Background.  Here is the tutorial from the Resources section of Splitcoaststampers - http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/bokehbackground/

I made this with our dear team member, Joanne in mind.  Hope she is back with us soon.

PP#310

This card is for the Paper Players #310 challenge.. I have set a goal of making at least 2 Christmas cards a month this past year, but some months have fallen behind. So now I am in catchup mode. This sketch challenge seem to motivate me to make one today for my stash. Here's what I came up with making use of scraps still lingering on my paper cutting table. (It does need to be decluttered and perhaps I will get that done today too)!!

CTD408

Decided to start my day off stamping this morning. I did this one for today's Color Throw Down Challenge #408 that can be found here

I used a set from Stampin' Up for the flowers, and the sentiment is from Sweet and Sassy.

CCEE1634 Herbs

According to some research I did, it is More Herbs, Less Salt Day!! Herbs and plants add so much to our lives, so in honor of this unusual day, make a card with an herb or plant on it. I know we have lots of followers who love gardening, so any of these images would work great. You might even want to add colors that are named after herbs and plants: sage, thyme, lavender, cinnamon, nutmeg, mint, celery, olive, or cocoa, as well as all those you can think of. Have fun with it.

I added the scent of rosemary essential oil to the inside of my card. I used a stamp set from Flourishes that featured many different herbs and had this fabulous quote as well.

You can post your card with your comments, or you can post it to SCS using CCEE1634 as your keyword.

CTD407

I made this for the CTD 407 challenge today. I don't always get to play along, but could not resist these colors. Here was the challenge:

I added the three colors of ink to an embossing folder, spritzed it with water, then smashed the folder closed onto my paper to make the background. Then I added the teal and lime papers. Finally I stamped the diecut rose and leaves, added them and then the sentiment.

CCEE1633

Tomorrow is my birthday,  and also Orville Wright's. Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation to make it National Aviation Day, to honor Orville Wright. I  thought it would be fun to hunt down an image of something man has made fly in the air. It might be an airplane, helicopter, rocket, jet, or hot air balloon. If none of these are available to you, how about a kite or a simple birthday balloon? Our bonus can be to make it a birthday card'

I used an Art Impression card for the main image. I don't know the source for the sentiment. My attempt at clouds did not go so well, but .....

Hope you join in on the fun and use CCEE1633 as your keyword if you load it to /SCS,

CCEE1632

I am again hosting another challenge this month for the CCEEStampers. The month of August is National Catfish Month. Fishing is a year round sport and hobby around where I live, especially saltwater fishing. So, for the challenge this week, find a fish, or someone fishing and it might make a perfect masculine card for your stash!!

Join in on the fun and post your card with your comments, or post it on SCS using the CCEE1632 as your keyword.

It's been running 3 digit temperatures here where I live. I hope it is cooler where you are, or that you are finding a cool place to get in our of the heat.

Less is more 288

This card is for the Less is More challenge #288, which was to use brown and blue. I used these shells from Flourishes and the block stamps from many retired sets from Stampin' Up. I took the time to take all these shape kinds of stamps from any sets they were in and put them in an orgazizer together so that I could use them to make these kinds of backgrounds. It makes a quick and easy card and finding them will be so much easier.

You can find this challenge here

CCEE1631

Aug. 4 CCEE1631 – Sister’s Day! In the month of August, I will be the hostess for the CCEEStampers challenges.  As many of you know, or perhaps you don’t, Lynn and I are sisters. When we were asked to join the CCEE team at the same time, we both thought it would be fun to be doing this together. So, for your sister card, find an image of a pair or group of ladies or girls who just might be sisters doing things that sisters like to do.

If you choose to join us in the challenge, which I hope you will, include your card in your comment, or post it onto SCS using the CCEE1631 as your keyword.

This is a great vintage stamp from my collection and it is not actually a picture of Lynn and I.
I remembered the old black and white photos from my mom's old picture album of when were little and how she somehow applied some special paints to tone the flesh tones of the pictures. So, that is why I only colored the skin in this image. I had frist thought of only using black, white, and tans on this card,  but I found this deep red sheet left over from an earlier project and liked how it added the extra color this probably needed.

If you happen to have a sister or two, why don't you wish them a happy
sister's day!!! Love you, Lynn, and so glad I had you beside me to get through this life!
It is really fun that we share this same passion for stamping.
