COF June Challenge

"
Barb's challenge for us:
June is Dairy Month in Wisconsin. I remember when I was growing up there were dairy breakfasts at farms in our area and my 4-H club had a pie and ice cream social every June. Now--I am not sure that everyone has a dairy themed image. But--if you have something farm related--cow, chickens, ducks, barns, fields, etc. or dairy products related--ice cream, cheese, milk, eggs, cream puffs (the Wisconsin State Fair favorite!), or use your own imagination to honor the dairy farmer. Do you have some farm related DSP or an embossing folder? Chicken wire, barbed wire, farm animals, etc.--please be sure to use that."

I made use of some of my newest Graphic 45 paper. I have had this rooster for quite some time in my collection, which I use for all my Emmaus agape items I love to make. "De Colores" is one of the main songs used on an Emmaus weekend, and in the lyrics it sings about the rooster, the hen, and the baby chicks. I've tried to capture a French Country look in the choice of my colors and the sunflower.

So many proud Americans serve their country and they serve their God. Many have put their lives on the line and even lost their lives protecting our God-given freedoms. As we celebrate the liberties and freedoms that we hold so dear, let us not forget the high price others have paid to make it so. These are the true American heroes.

Casing Stacy

I finally got to do some blog browsing this evening after a week of entertaining a 10 year grand daughter last week.. I found that one of my favorite designers over at Flourishes was being featured this week, Stacy Morgan.  There is a challenge to case one of her lovely cards. I found one here that I just loved. I am a big fan of embossing and of course, the floral stamps from Flourishes are some of my all time favorite stamps.
Thanks, Stacy for all the lovely inspiration you provide in your lovely Flourish cards.

WAW85 and TLC435

The challenge for the Splitcoaststampers' TLC challenge was to use an angled background. and this is this week's scripture for the Wordart Wednesday challenge.

Make My Monday Challenge - summer scene

I just got this new Kitchen Sink multi-layered palm tree stamp set last week, so thought it would be perfect to use for a summer scene for the Make My Monday challenge. I used an old retired SU circle stamp for the sun, and a SU speckle stamp for the sand. I did some direct to paper from my tear drop Memento teal pad for the ocean. I sponged the sky. The sand dollar is a cuttlebug diecut. I used a bermuda bay cardstock for the mat. The sentiment is from Flourishes and the seam binding is from The Cat's Pajamas. It's plenty hot in Texas for these first days of summer. Hope you are enjoying your summer wherever you are!

CBC172 wedding

Hailey, my 10 year old grand daughter has spent the week with me, and it was hard keeping her out of my stamp room, so I let her color this image for me for this challenge. The button is part of my old stash and seemed perfect for this little couple. The designer paper is from my old stash of Basic Grey papers. Usually wedding cards are not this colorful, but this one is.

CCEE1325

My new stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps seemed just perfect for this masculine challenge for the CCEE 1325 challenge this week. I used a scrap of striped dp on my ivory card base and then multi-layered this guitar and cut it out to add to the front. This sentiment is part of this set.  I love this guitar that looks so much like my own. Maria, the creator of KSS let her design team suggest a stamp for her latest releases. This one is the one my sister, Lynn suggested. Music has always been a big part of our life and this stamp is just awesome.

Make my Monday

Here it is Thursday, I made this one Monday for the Make my Monday challenge, and I forgot to get it downloaded. So, sharing it a little late. The stamps are from Flourishes. I stamped it in purple ink and spread the ink around with a blender pen. The side is an embossing edge that I used a sparkle gel pen on to accent some of the indentions. I added a purple bow. The sentiment is stamped in tuxedo black.

Hailey's card for the House Mouse challenge

My 10 year old grand daughter is spending the week with me, and I introduced her to some of the challenges I like to check on and do when I can. She loved this one because she loves these stamps. The charm says "forever friends". Hailey did the coloring and I helped her with the baker's twine and charm. She used copic markers to color the image.

I have been blessed to have a father with a servant's heart. He has always done those things God has put on his heart to do. He has organized Crop Walks, taught Sunday School, served many terms on the session of his church, and by his examples he raised two daughters who seem to have lovingly served the Lord as well.
His actions shaped our lives and we are so blessed to have had him in all 62 years of my life. I thought this quote from Mother Teresa pretty much was the lesson Dad is still teaching us. Happy Fathers Day to all those loving and faithful dads, who have honored and served their heavenly Father.

CTD245

I won this stamp set from Sweet and Sassy at their last blog hop challenge. It arrived yesterday, and I could hardly wait to try it out. So with the Color Throw Down challenge colors of kiwi kiss, melon mambo, barely banana, and groovy guava, I gave it a go.  I am always glad when the Throw down challenge includes some of those discontinued SU colors. It's a great way to make use of them, and they are colors I still love. I embossed the barely banana triangular panel just to add a little texture to this. The sentiment is from Sweet and Sassy, and I just love all the sentiments that are included in that set.

Some of the best peaches in Texas are grown in Fairfield, Texas at Cooper Farms. Every peach season I try to get somewhere that is selling these peaches alongside the road or in some of the stores. This image is from Flourishes and colored with copic markers. I freehanded my sentiment.

I have a friend who lost her beautiful mother this past weekend to breast cancer. I find these words from a stamp by ODBD to be comforting of all the emotions  Anna will experience over the days ahead. These colors are the colors of the Splitcoaststampers color challenge this week, and they just worked perfectly into this design, offering a soft, tender touch to the words. Let our words be life and truth to all those we encounter this day. I am listening to the song, "Words" by Hank Nelson as I write this. A powerful song about the power of words. My favorite line said,
"Let the words I say, be sound of Your grace
I don't want to say a word unless it points the world back to you."
And with that sweet lesson, I say AMEN!

ODBDSLC156

For the ODBDSLChallenge this week, we were to use any Our Daily Bread Design stamps and any diecut. The little box is a diecut I bought at Dollar Tree, and the stamp set and butterfly diecut are from Our Daily Bread Designs. I colored the images with copic matkers, and I added some design paper from Graphics 45 to cover the inside bleed through of the markers. I added a purple organdy ribbon to the handle. Thought this could be filled with some kinds of goodies for a little end of year gift for a teacher.  The other side of the box is also stamped and colored as this side. Inexpensive but it's all about presentation!!!!

COF challenge for May

Jackie challenged the Crafters of Faith Blog this month to use things we love for this challenge.
I love House Mouse stamps and with this year being the year my youngest grandchild was graduating from preschool, I made this for him because he is one of the loves of my life. I attended his graduation ceremony last night, and he surprised us all by doing a solo in one of the songs his group sang. I was one proud grandma. On the way home he asked if he was good at keeping secrets. That one he kept well and until we read the program we had no idea he was going to be doing a special part. It was funny, when right after he finished he announced to everyone, "I really did well with that, didn't I?"

So, this was made for one of those milestones of life that is so precious. All of God's gifts are precious to us, but His Son was the most precious of all. "For God so loved the world, that He sent His only beloved Son..."
