CCEE1834 Riding the Wind

Hi Crafty Friends

It's Frances here again with another fun challenge for you all.

Today (23rd August) is Ride the Wind Day, this day was created to celebrate the anniversary of the first man powered flight. There are so many things that rely on wind for them to work, so let's include something that needs wind on our cards today. Some examples include kite flying, windsurfing, Hang Gliding; Sailing Boats, Birds Flying, Hot Air Balloons, Balloons, Paper Planes etc.

Here's my card and I kind of took a different angle on ridiing the wind. I thought of how a loose feather floats through the air and how it moves as the wind catches it. 

I used distress oxide inks for my background. Stamps I used were from Stampabilities and Unity. 
I added a few sequins as some of the pieces scattered.

CCEE1833 In honor of bees

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our CCEE Stamps challenge blog. Frances is our wonderful hostess again this week and she had  another challenge for you today.

Apparently Saturday 18th August is World Honey Bee Day, so for our challenge this week we are to include a bee or two on our cards.

I used some of my oxide inks including one of the newest, mustard seed and one of the older ones, wild honey. I added a few stamped dots of antique photo. These bees are really part of a trio, but I decided to cute them apart and use them seperately for this card. The sentiment is from an old SU set. 

Try it on Tuesdays - She's got the look

"She's got the look" is the theme of the challenge for the Try It On Tuesday challenge this week. So my latest order from Unity included this beauty. I think she fits to requirement fairly well. I love paper piecing with Unity stamps and I love making smashed inked backgrounds with Distress Oxide inks so this card was total fun for me.

Challenge up Your life #81 Stenciling

This is for the Challenge Up Your Life #87 using stenciling. I had fun with my Oxide ink pads making this background.I stamped the script (retired stamp from Stampin' Up) background before  I stenciled the trees and then sponge dabbed the green leaves. I stamp the yellow sun, and sponged the edges. I added a few water drops to try out a few extra techniques with the oxide inks. I added the diecut deer as my final touch.

Haing a great time this week trying out some new challenges.

Just Us Girls Challenge

My card for the Just Us Girls Photo challenge this week. Here is the link and challenge:

I used a Hampton Arts Stamp, Distress Oxide inks (wild honey, wild violets, and seedless preserves.

I also used this challenge for the SCS's Technique challenge to make a 3-D word die. 

Purple and Monochromatic

This is a perfect day to just stay in my pajamas and stamp and play in my stamping room.  During winter, it  becomes my hybernation cave. I was checking over at Paper Playful and all the wonderful challenges they list each week. Challenges are what help me get my mojo going. And wow, today I found two that I could easily combine into one card. So this card is for the Less Is More challenge to use purple found HERE  and for the Use Your Stuff Challenge found HERE.

I used two of Tim Holtz's purple Oxide inks for the smashed bg, and used the darker on to stamp the feather and sentiment, which are stamps from Unity. Grabbed up a few purple gemstones from the stash. It is a one layered card that I ended up mounting onto a white cardstock front as to hide the ink smushes that got on the back. 

Mod Squad Fall Fest challenge

Fall is my favorite season of the year. The lovely colors of fall are my favorites and I welcome the cooler air. I made this card for the fall fest challenge over at MOD SQUAD CHALLENGE.  I used a mixture of my oxide distress inks on white and then stamped the leaves (Flourishes), which I think was designed by Marcella Hawley years ago before she started Power Poppy. I have always been a big fan of her fabulous artwork.  I also embossed the torn panel with an inked Darice embossing folder. The smaller leaves are a Martha Stewart punch, and the sentiment is from Stampabilities.

Rubbernecker Challenge #20 Halloween Boo

I used my smash method of applying my oxide inks for this background. Then I used the moon colored inks, spritzed it with water and put a round sponge into it and used the sponge to make my moon. These stamps are from some old retired SU stamps and are one of the only Halloween sets I own. The sentiment is from one of those stamps from Michael's bargain bins.

Fall challenges are fun

I made this for the F4A challenge on SCS and for A Vintage Journey's Crazy for Autumn color challenge.  I used many of my fall colors of Oxide inks for my background using a Flourish leaf set from my stamp collection. The sentiment is from Rubbernecker stamps.

Little C's Aloha Friday Challenge - medallions

We are riding out a hurricane here on the Texas Gulf coast and stamping seems to be the best distraction. We have been fortunate this time to have our power. I have just recently gotten into using Tim Holtz's distress inks and oxide inks and they just cease to amaze me what all you can do with them.  I used the smash and spritz method for my background. Then I stamped a partial Stampin' Up medallion on the edge. I also added a little French Script, The cake and sentiment are from Unity.
I colored the cake with copic markers. I also used a silver metallic pen,

This is the first time I think I have taken part in the Little C's Aloha Friday Challenge, but I have been trying to find new challenges every week. The challenge for this week was to use a medallion.

CCEE1734

This week I am serving at UMCOR (United Methodist Corp of Relief) so got this done ahead to schedule it's appearance here on my blog. Anne is again hostess, and here is her challenge for us:
Make a background using water colors, then finish the card in whatever way you wish.

I have been having so much fun making watercolor backgrounds with Tim Holtz's new distress oxide inks. That is what I used for this card. When you dry each color between applications, the inks keep their colors and don't bleed together like so many wet types of media do. I stamped the silhouette and CS Lewis quote in versafine black ink. I added a few sequins has a finishing  touch.

In the pink 124

I used this for the Free for All challenge on SCS which required a bow on the card. I also am using this card for the "in the Pink" challenge #124.  I used some of the next oxide inks by Tim Holtz for my background and I inked an embossing folder, spritzed it with water and stamped on the background with it randomly. The image and sentiment are from Unity Stamps, that I colored them with copic markers.

Little Red Wagon #407

This is for the Little Red Wagon challenge #407. I got this die cut set from a bargain rack and have not used it yet. So thought this challenge of "Bows and Arrows" seem to fit the die. I did a smash background of oxide inks (which I just love) and added the sentiment from Unity and then arranged the diecuts around it. I loved the earthy colors for this and the red for a pop color.

Freshly Made Sketch 301

Trying out the Freshly Made Sketch this week. I made an oxide inked background, used a background stamp from Stampin' up and added a sentiment.  Here is the sketch for the challenge

Make my Monday #52 Grey and pink

I did this for the Make my MOnday challenge #52 to use grey and pink. My grey is a silver metallic and it appears more blackish in the photo. I got out an old set I got from Paper Trey years ago. After stamping the flower and leaves, I painted them with Oxide inks. After it was dry, I fuzzy cut it out and then diecut the believe out of pink paper. The white panel is stenciled using hickory smoke distress ink.

Mod Squad - Wheels

When I went to check out the Mod Squad challenge this week and saw that it was wheels and that Kitchen Sink Stamps is their sponsor this week, I pulled out my KS classic truck. I used my distress oxide inks to stamp and sponge my card.

SOS #315 Spice up your life

Searching for a challenge to do this morning as my daily therapy, I found this cool one over at http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/ where I am to be inspired by one of the spice girls. I love orange and "ginger" color,  so I picked "Ginger."  I used one of my favorite stamps from Unity Stamps that seem to go right along here with this whole "rocking" challenge.  I used the medallion background stamp from Stampin' Up  (an old favorite as well) and inked it with oxide inks in those orange and ginger tones. After stamping and coloring my image with copic markers, I popped her up in front of the stamped background. This great sentiment is included with this Unity set, and then I added some silver stars. Thanks ladies at Shopping our Stash, I had such fun with this challenge.

Power Poppy's Hues to Use Challenge

This is for the new fun challenge over at Power Poppy's blog . Something about a red rose speaks All American to me. I made a stencil with the stars by punching out stars from a scrap of paper. Then I sponged  faded jeans Distress Oxide ink into the stars. I used my copics to color this wonderful digital from Power Poppy. I didn't seem to find any red, white, and blue ribbon in my stamproom, but I found this fabulous wide red and white stripe. It just seem to be the finishing touch.
