Beach, old stamps, and tropical colors

I loved making this card that seemed to fit 3 challenges I found this week. I stamped my own background for this using distress oxide inks, and using a old seashell set from SU dated back to 2000, palm trees from a set from 2006, and my Crosshatch background stamp from many, many years ago as well. The sentiment is  my only new stamp used on this card.from Stampendous. My diecut is from Spellbinders.

Here are the challenges I made this card for:

CCEE1729 Space Exploration challenge

CCEE1729 - Moon and Space Exploration Day

Another day on the days of the year Calendar is Moon and Space Exploration day, use this theme to inspire your card. Thanks, Maryann for this fun challenge.  I did a little more experimenting with my Distress Oxide inks after Googling some space pictures and I thought I might get that effect from these inks if I did them on dark cardstock. Here is my attempt:

I was lucky enough to grow up in the 60's when space exploration and the race to the moon was the driving force between the US and Russia to see who would be first. We were a very proud nation when 48 years ago today this was the headline of the day:

CTD451

This is for the Color Throwdown Challenge #451. Fun colors for summer. Had fun using my new stamps I got in my Unity Grab bag this week.  The shoes are paper pieced, which I stamped on a pink piece of design paper. I made the background with Distress Oside inks.

CCEE challenge

Hi everyone,

Frances is again our challenge hostess.

Today is World Ocean Day, so the challenge this week is to create a card that reminds you of something related to the ocean.

If you would like to play along, don't forget to come back and add your link to Mr Linky at the bottom of this post.

Now let's see what the Design Team has created for you this week ........
over on the blog site here

I have been having such fun with my new Distress Oxide inks and created this background behind my stamped image of the ship from Flonz. I colored my sails with a white galaxy pen and the wood with a brown copic marker.

Background challenge at Mod Squad

I have been having such fun the past few weeks experimenting with my Distress Oxide Inks from Ranger. I was thrilled to see self made backgrounds as the challenge this week on the Mod Squad challenge. I also made use of some new Unity stamps I ordered this week. I colored in the butterfly wings with Copic markers.

I was so excited to see that my card had made the top 3 over at Mod Squad's blog. Thanks for the mention. I loved doing this challenge.

Birthday girl

I have done this card for the Unity Stamp challenge to use an Unity girl stamp, and also the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge to do a birthday card. I made use of Unity stamps, and my Distress Oxide inks on this

The Sisterhood of snarky stampers

I have been experimenting with my new Distress Oxide Inks and decided to add this flamingo that is new to my stamproom too. It was a purchase I made at my recent trip to Michael's . Stamps were on sale, enough said. I rememberd that the Sisterhood of snarky stampers had a beach theme this week, and I needed a thank you note to a friend that loves the beach.
