CCEE1518 stars

In honor of National Astronomy Day,  Frances has asked us to make a project or card using stars.
I punched these large silver, glittery stars out of glittered cardstock. The base of the card is  blackberry bliss, and the black and silver panel is glittered cardstock. I die cut  the "friend" with a Taylored Expression diecut from the silver, glittered cardstock. I thought this would be a cute card for some of my "star-studded" friends. I used a rhinestone to dot the I.

It's challenge time again and Frances is back with another fun challenge for us all.

Today is National Librarian Day, so for our challenge this week use a book as your inspiration …. Children's or Adults.

Having been a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years,  one of my favorite authors for young children is Eric Carle, who not only authored his books, but was also the illustrator for them. His art is so delightfully done, most often in a unique tissue paper collage mixed with his paints.

So for a fun card today, I used his very hungry caterpillar  that not only shows the stages a butterfly or moth goes through in its life cycle in the book, but it also provides the daily order of the days of the week. 

If you are familiar with this story, you know that the caterpillar eats through many things during the week, and on his last day before he goes into his chrysalis, he eats through some green leaves to settle his tummy. So, that is why I punched holes in my leaves for a bottom border.

Today I decided to try my hand on these colors for the Color Throwdown Challenge. I used teal zeal and pear tart inks on my embossing folder to get some color into the background. I added a scrap of dp of the green print and some burlap for the tan and texture it would add. I looked through my stamps to see which flower stamp I had that was long and narrow. This one from Hampton art stamps seem to fit the need. I colored it in with copic markers. The die cut Thanks was done in taken with teal.

CAS on Sunday #56

The challenge on CAS on Sunday was to use gold. I stamped this silhouette with versamark and then added gold embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment in tuxedo black. The silhouette is from Inkadinkado, and the sentiment is from Sweet and Sassy stamps.  I love CAS cards, and nice and flat that are easy to mail.  Here is where you can find out more information on this challenge:

This is for the color challenge going on over at Our Daily Bread Designs Shining Light Challenge this week. It was fun to have the time to play along today.

 I used ODBD's Guardian Angel Prayer and ODBD's Sweet Williams set.

 

I used a Darice embossing folder, and a Spellbinder frame die cut.  

Pop of Pastel Challenge

I love these peonies from Power Poppy and decided to try some pastel colors that might not even be the colors these flowers bloom to be, but I used this digital to participate in the challenge going on over on the Power Poppy Blog.  I forgot to clean this embossing folder before I used it for this card base, but since the color picked up on the lavender using on one the flowers, I used it anyway.

CCEE1515 Stenciling

The challenge this week, Frances has us doing some stenciling. I have so many brass plates for embossing (one of my other obsessive collections years ago). Although I haven't used them in years, I still have them all organized in a little picture album. I picked this one use for this challenge and I sponged the green ink. The words on the brass plate are Faith, Hope, and Charity. I did some repeat stenciling around the edges to complete this interesting background. I added the prima flowers and a diecut bow for the final touches.

CFC138 and C4C280

I made this card this morning for the CAS-UAL Friday challenge using a bouquet of daisies from Flourishes  to be my bouquet on Kraft paper. The C4C challenge was to use daisies. I used white gel pen to draw in the white petals on the kraft paper. I love using white with the kraft paper. I also used the cluster stamping method inside a heart shaped space. I used my old SU itty bitty backgrounds stamp to stamp in some peanut brittle ink inside the heart and then I added some white craft ink also using that same itty bitty stamp. I diecut the bow and added it and the sentiment is from Power Poppy. Since the challenge asked for twine to be used for the CFC I added some natural twine on top of my diecut   bow. 

April 2015 Happy Little Stampers Challenge - stenciling

It is always fun to find a new challenge that I haven't tried. What was so wonderful about the Happy Little Stampers site I found such great tutorial videos. Thanks, ladies, I learned so much. I experimented here with one of the things I learned on the making my own stencils video.
This is my first attempt, and I know some practice will lead to some improvements, but I was so excited to learn some new techniques.  My stencil is made from some scraps left from some SU punches I had used on previous cards. The sentiment is from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

There is an anything goes challenge going on over at Our Daily Bread Design this week, so here is my entry. I rubbed ink on an embossing folder, spritzed it with water and then pressed the paper inside. Next I stamped the cross and the sentiment. I added the punched flowers for the cross.

CCEE1514 Humor

Frances is our hostess for April, and just like April starts with April Fool's Day, it is also National Humor Month. So, in honor of these two events, she has asked us to reflect some humor in our card and in the sentiment. I love the Art Impression images I have been collecting, and they always put a smile on my face. I added a few sequins just to add to the light and bubbly feel of the card.
