COF February Challenge

For the Crafters of Faith challenge this month, Tami asked us to use scoring on our cards, to NOT use the usual Valentine colors of red or pink anywhere on the card, and to use a stamped image and sentiment on the front. So I did some fun scoring on this. I stamped this flower from Paper Trey Ink and the sentiment from Verve on this card, and picked this light sage, yellow, and mustard color scheme. I colored the flower with my copic markers.

As you read this post, I will be helping lead music on an Emmaus weekend. Please pray for the team that leads this weekend, the ladies who will be the participants, and their families as they are away

. Embrace your weaknesses, because they are God's unique gifts to us that we can use that bring only glory to God (thanks, Carla McDougal, for that awesome insight). He magnifies in ways that only He can, and gives us power over the weak spots! God is so good and His love endures forever.

CCEE1308 and TLC418

Some challenges are just so fun. I checked out Joan's TLC challenge this morning to see that it was to use circles. That reminded me of the CCEE challenge this week to use "C" things on your card. Does a retired kindergarten teacher's mind just run this way?? I quickly categorized all the "c" things I could think of here.
Coral, cocoa, cardstock, circles, Cuttlebug (tool used for embossing), checkerboard pattern on the embossing, chevron strip in celery, rich Cocoa ink, carrots and the image was colored with Copic markers.
The stamps were from Flourishes.

I love the Timeless Tuesday Challenges over at Flourishes every week. I work on Tuesdays and although I don't get these done on Tuesday very often, I try my best to participate every week. This week the challenge was RED, one of my favorite colors to work with. Lately I have been having fun stamping one layer cards, using mostly stamping for the card. For this one layered card I pulled out two of some old favorites of mine from Flourishes. I sponged part of the front and then used these silhouetted tulips and for the other side I stamped some pretty red lace.

This really is a quick and easy card, although it doesn't look like it. I used a background stamp and cross stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs on a white piece of cardstock that the edge I embossed with a new embossing folder I had ordered last week. It is by Darice.  I stamped another cross onto a smaller white piece of cardstock and diecut it with the matching diecut. Haven't diecuts simplified our lives? I just love them.
I added a rhinestone to the middle and loved the results. I have made a dozen more of this same card (which is something I seldom do because I get bored reproducing the same card) to use for the letters I am writing to some pilgrims on an Emmaus weekend. The ink used was teal deal from Memento. It is a beautiful color.

I had a rough day, and didn't get much stamping in, but did print out this scripture offered on the Wordart Wednesday blog today for their wonderful weekly challenge. I got out a few of my spellbinder diecuts to make some shapes to use, stamped some flowers from Verve, cut them out, and glued them on. May your Valentines Day be filled with God's love and hoping  that you have lots of opportunities to pass it on to others!!

A quick masculine card making use of a Flourishes background map stamp and a sentiment appropriate for this card. The challenge was to use a heart. The dp is from Basic Grey.

C4C172 and F4A155

I was checking out what the challenge for the Crazy for Challenges was for this week. It is to do a Valentine not using reds and pinks. I so loved the blue and brown combo used in the challenge for the Free For All Challenge on Friday, that I just had to use that color combo. I embossed some kraft paper for the top portion of my card. Stamped a lace border on the bottom portion out of Baja Breeze ink and I mistakingly threw away the packaging on that lace border set  when I put it in a box for well keeping. I punched the lacey dp heart with a paper punch and the blue dp with a diecut. I added the light blue ribbon and stamped on the sentiment which is from an old SU set.

This card is for the FTTC 206 challenge this week. I used up some stashed dp from Stampin' Up. I am bound and determined to get some of these old supplies in use and moving off my shelf. KWIM?? This is a stamp from Flourishes and I colored the image with my copic markers. These are colors I don't use so often, but I do like the way they turned out on these flowers.

Valentine Making

Valentine cards are my favorites to make. I love Christmas cards too, but that is always such a busy time of the year! I enjoy the slower pace of February so here is one more Valentine for 2013. This one is for my oldest grandaughter, Taylor, who is in her first year of college. I loved how this one turned out. Hope to make a few more to send some friends. It's getting down to the wire!!! Think I will enter this into the Creative Bellie Challenge, which was to make use of rhinestones.

Color Challenge on SCS #412

I love this lace stamp set I found at Michael's after Christmas markdown. I took it out of it's wrapper and put it in a video box, and forgot to write down who makes this set. Maybe Inkadinkado?? Not sure. The sentiment is from Verve and I embossed it with white embossing powder. I really like this color combo, although I did not have any of the called for cake crumb cardstock from Stampin' Up. I used kraft, as an alternative. I embellished with pearls that I tried to color with my copic marker to look vanilla or ivory. I find myself doing more CAS types of cards lately.. My time in my stamping room has been shortened because I am reading 12 pages a day in my Bible so I can read the Bible in 90 days. I have been in many Bible studies over the years, but this is probably the first time I have read cover to cover the entire Bible. I am loving it.

I thought this was the perfect stamp set for this verse from Proverbs. I don't make long cards very often, but thought a long line of ointment bottles stretched across would be great. Isn't it fabulous to have such a friend who would love you enough to correct you if needed with Christian love. God has sent me a few that I treasure in my sweet collection of friends! Hope you have some of those too!

MOJO 279

My MOJO Monday card. The design papers are from Basic Grey, the cardstock from PTI, and the stamps are from Verve.

Friday, February 1, 2013

I love this pretty stamp set from Our Daily Bread that also has a matching diecut for the butterfly. I used rhinestones on the letters in LOVE and to embellish the torn paper edge. Valentines are my favorite of all cards to stamp. This card is for the ODBDSLChallenge this week.
